About Me

Yue Xin is a learning scientist who is currently finishing up her master's in the Learning Sciences and Technologies program at Penn GSE. She is also a biologist who obtained her bachelor’s degree in Fudan University, Shanghai, China and master’s degree from Georgetown University. Prior to Penn GSE, she worked in a global biotechnology company for two years. During that period, she developed an interest in education and shifted her career path into the interdisciplinary research of science and education.
As a life-long gamer, she holds firm belief in the value of games in facilitating scientific inquiry learning and social emotional learning. Her recent work involves the use of a Nintendo Switch simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizon in improving student science learning in formal and informal settings. Yue is interested in understanding how such approaches afford students opportunities to engage in science learning in a both fun and meaningful manner.
